Therapeutic Walking & Nordic Walking™ – body-led, nature-based sessions with or without poles

Where movement meets mindfulness—reconnect mind and body, and move forward with confidence.

What is Therapeutic Walking & Nordic Walking?

Therapeutic Walking & Nordic Walking combines the physical benefits of Nordic walking with a trauma-informed, coaching-based approach.

These sessions go beyond fitness. With mindful movement, breathwork and somatic awareness, each step becomes a way to reconnect with yourself—supporting physical recovery, emotional balance, and renewed confidence.

Why it’s different

Unlike traditional Nordic walking, which focuses purely on technique or fitness, this approach supports the whole of you—mind, body, and story.

Sessions weave together breath awareness, movement, and reflective coaching, creating space for both strength and emotional healing. It’s ideal for those who’ve finished physiotherapy or simply want a more therapeutic approach to recovery and movement.

Who it’s for

You might find this helpful if you're:

  • Rebuilding confidence after injury or illness

  • Feeling disconnected from your body or struggling to move without fear

  • Managing emotional fatigue or navigating a life transition

  • Seeking a gentle, empowering way to reconnect with yourself

You don’t need to be fit or outdoorsy—just ready to begin.

What to expect

1:1 Therapeutic Nordic Walking sessions take place at Longshaw (National Trust) and are adapted to your needs—whether you’re rebuilding confidence after injury, navigating emotional change, or simply seeking a new way to feel more like yourself again.

Each session includes:

  • Gentle Nordic walking techniques

  • Mindful breathwork and somatic awareness

  • Therapeutic coaching woven into movement

  • A pace and rhythm that works for you

Poles are provided for those who want to try the Nordic Walking technique but are not required. Whether you’re confident using them, curious to try, or not ready yet—they’re simply one of the tools we can use. Sessions are designed to meet you exactly where you are, and support you safely from there.
